Travel insurance is required for each participant (including staff). Based on the age range, it could cost about $500 per staff person. To check the rate for your age, click on the link below. Miami MOTL will cover this expense if you are not able to, however, if you are able to pay for this added cost this year, that would certainly help us as this is a new expense to our program. STAFF GUIDELINES

Miami’s Leo Martin March of the Living Code of Conduct and Disciplinary Approach^*

Please take this opportunity to review the topics covered in this staff code of conduct and contract. 
 
Please note that the terms “during the program” and “during program times” used throughout this document are defined as any time the staff is engaging in a March of the Living sponsored event, including all workshops, trainings, service activities and travel time from departure from Miami to returning to Miami. 
 
As a staff member for the March of the Living program, I understand that I am participating in the formation of kehillah kedoshah - a sacred community. From the moment I enter the program until the program officially ends, I am committed to fully participating in the program and abiding by all guidelines outlined in this staff contract, as well as any additional guidelines provided by the community staff. I will do my utmost to behave in a way that reflects well on me, my local community, the Leo Martin March of the Living Program, and the Jewish community. 
 
I understand that this staff contract and my commitment to what is stated in it are designed to ensure the health and well-being of me, all program participants and staff, and other individuals that I may meet throughout the course of the program. I further understand that as a staff member I am committing myself to strive to meet the highest standards of ethical, moral and legal behavior. Additionally, as a staff member, I agree to abide by the teen code of conduct as well and will review that contract as well. 
 
I commit to participating in creating an atmosphere that is physically and emotionally safe, intellectually and spiritually stimulating, and socially and Jewishly enriching for all participants and staff members. I commit to joining in creating a safe, fun, and stimulating environment. I understand that the program includes rigorous physical elements and I commit to participating regardless of the demanding time commitments and sleep constraints during travel and challenging elements. 
 
I understand that if I break any of the rules listed in this staff contract or guidelines articulated by the Leo Martin March of the Living that the teen participants follow, I may be dismissed from staffing the program at my expense (including paying for a return trip from Poland or Israel with all associated fees). Should there be any travel issues such as flight delays or passport issues, CAJE is not responsible for the costs or troubles associated. I further understand that it may be necessary to alter and/or add program rules and restrictions and I agree to abide by any additional program rules and restrictions set forth by the CAJE team. 
 
During participation in the Miami Leo Martin March of the Living program I commit to: 
- Participating fully in the entire program. Full participation means being on time and ready to be an active contributor in all programs and activities, including physical activities. 
- Act to ensure the health and safety of participants during the program 
- Engage in mature, respectful, appropriate, legal and ethical behavior at all times. I understand that disrespectful, unsafe, illegal or other behavior harmful to others may be grounds for dismissal from the program at my own expense. 
- Be respectful of the religious and/or personal sensibilities of all program participants and staff, and make every effort to behave in a way that is respectful of others religious or personal practice. 
- Adhere to and enforce the dress code set by local staff: shorts will be no shorter than midthigh and shirts must have sleeves. 
- Jewish custom and practice. 
- Comply with any program changes, including restrictions on movements or activities. 
- Taking direction from lead staff and supporting the other staff and participants in what they need. 
- Complete my duties and tasks outlined for my role on the trip and during pre-sessions. 
- Notify lead staff immediately in case of illness or accident for myself or a participant. 
I commit to NOT engage in the following actions that I understand will automatically result in my being dismissed from the Leo Martin March of the Living program: 
- Behave in a way that causes or could cause harm or injury to myself, another program participant, a staff member or someone else associated with the program. 
- Bully, harass or threaten a fellow staff member, participant, or others at any time or in any place during the program. 
- Possess or use illegal drugs or alcohol. I further understand that violation of drug laws in Poland and Israel may carry personal and legal consequences far more stringent than do laws in North America. I further commit to reporting any situation where this is occurring around me. 
- Use legal drugs in any way other than for their intended purpose. 
- Corporal Punishment: I understand that corporal punishment or any other exertion of inappropriate power over a participant or another staff member whether physical, sexual or emotional is strictly forbidden. Any staff member who engages in corporal punishment or who uses inappropriate force in any form is subject to immediate dismissal. 
 
I further commit to NOT engage in the following actions that I understand will result in consequences up to and possibly including my being removed from the Leo Martin March of the Living program: 
- Smoke or possess tobacco smoking paraphernalia (including nargila pipes) at any time or in any place during the program. I further commit to reporting any situation where this is occurring around me. 
- Engage in inappropriate use of the internet, digital media and/or communication of any kind. This includes invading privacy, causing embarrassment to or being hurtful to others, posting images that invade privacy or embarrass anyone even if they are agreeable. This prohibition includes downloading, emailing, writing blogs or posting material with sexual content, nudity, violence, drug use or anything destructive in nature and/or intentionally hurtful to others. 
- Possess weapons of any kind, including knives, at any time or in any place during the program. I further commit to reporting any situation where this is occurring around me. 
- Engage in gambling for money or articles of value. I further commit to reporting any situation where this is occurring around me. 
- Steal, shoplift, or take any item that does not belong to me without the express permission of its owner. 
- Damage property at any time or in any place during the program. I understand that any damage to property will be repaired at my expense. 
- Leave the group without authorization during program times. 
 
Each disciplinary situation for staff and for teen participants is evaluated individually, but as a general rule, infractions related to physical violence, drugs/controlled substances, alcohol, and leaving the group without authorization are dealt with on a zero-tolerance basis. A single infraction will result in immediate separation from the group and may be grounds for dismissal from the program. CAJE staff reserves the sole right to make these decisions. Staff who are participating in the March program do not have the discretion to make a disciplinary decision and need to inform a CAJE representative if a situation arises. 
 
In the event of a program dismissal, staff will be solely responsible for all associated fees, including the cost of special transportation to the airport, or an airline change fee. No portion of the program fees or donations will be refunded. Given the international nature of the program, the consequences of dismissal are extremely serious, embarrassing, costly, and disruptive to the rest of the group. By agreeing to this code of conduct I affirm my understanding of the staff guidelines above and I commit to following them. I further commit to personally contributing to building a strong Jewish community for myself and our teen participants on the Leo Martin March of the Living program.

I understand that the March requires full participation from staff members during the pre-sessions, staff training's and throughout the trip. I recognize that I am serving as a staff member to support the teens on the program.^*

I agree to participate in the in person workshops as noted in the program calendar below. I also agree to participate in our mandatory staff trainings. I agree to stay after the teens leave the workshops, to help clean up and review the day for 15-20 minutes post program.^*

PROGRAM COSTS

As part of our commitment to the Miami March of the Living staff, we typically pay and cover travel expenses for staff which costs us an upwards amount of $6,000 per person, not including travel insurance. Should you wish to opt into any upgrades which includes single rooms and/or flight upgrades (first class, premium economy and exit row), there will be a base payment of $2,000 plus the cost of the actual upgrade. If you chose not to opt into an upgrade, we still ask staff to pay for what they can, specifically for travel insurance which is about $500 per person.
